The sealant is a resin used as a preventive measure to prevent the formation of decay in the furrows of permanent teeth. This protective varnish is applied to permanent premolars and molars, to fill in the furrows (hollows) where food debris is often trapped. This treatment does not require local anesthesia and is an excellent preventive treatment.
