Implantology
What is a dental implant ?
A dental implant mimics the anatomy of a natural tooth and is made up of two parts, the crown and the root, anchored in the jawbone. The dental implant can consist of two parts including a custom-made restoration of the crown, the same shape as the natural tooth and the implant itself which acts like the root of the tooth.
Implants are made of titanium or a titanium alloy. The human body accepts titanium and does not cause infection or reaction to this material.
Steps :
The dentist creates an osteotomy * in the jawbone fitted to the dental implant and then inserts the implant into the cavity. We attach a healing screw and then the crown. The localization quickly begins to heal and the bone molecules attach to the titanium on the implant surface. It takes 2 to 4 months for the bone to completely cover and secure the implant.
* An osteotomy is a section of a bone to change its axis, size or shape.
